Tuesday 18th June
Nine of us flew to Krakow and travelled on by bus to join Jim who was already at Zakopane having travelled with the Donaghadee Male Voice Choir to perform at a festival. For the first evening we enjoyed the hospitality of the excellent Villa Marilor Hotel and Jim, as the holiday organiser, briefed us on his exhaustive plans for the holiday.
Wednesday 19th June
Today's walk, known as the Gubalowka and Western Circular, was described as a low level circuit of Zakopane measuring 17km with 350m of ascent and 350m of descent. We initially climbed parallel to the funicular railway and then followed the ridge(essentially a mountain top funfair) before a series of tracks and quiet roads which led us on an anticlockwise circuit of Zakopane with spectacular views. The town of Zakopane is about 800 to 900 metres above sea level so describing this walk as low level is not what we consider low level.
