DALES WAY 14-21 JUNE 2016

After a safe arrival at Ilkley and depositing our cases at the Craiglands Hotel, we had intended an afternoon walk on Ilkley Moor but decided against that. Instead we spent the afternoon exploring Ilkley before an excellent evening meal at The Moody Cow(£29 per couple for two rump steaks and a bottle of wine).

The rather posh Craiglands Hotel
We decided to teach Peter how to talk proper!(apologies Peter)
Excellent steaks at The Moody Cow

Today's walk was a gentle 12.9 miles and 421 m of ascent from Ilkley along the Wharfe valley to Burnsall. Along the route we visited Addingham and St Peter's parish church, Farfield Friends Meeting House and then entered Bolton Abbey Estate. In the extensive estate we viewed Bolton Priory, lunched at Cavendish Pavilion and viewed The Strid before reaching the Red Lion at Burnsall for our evening meal and a night's rest.

The boys in green were in our thoughts as we started our walk
Many old mill villages have been sympathetically renovated

Many of the churches have furnishings by "Mousey" Thompson(guess his trademark?)
A very simple interior
